Rwanda AgroFood
Rwanda’s economic vitality is centered around agriculture, contributing 33% to the GDP. Engaging nearly 70% of the population, this sector has been pivotal to Rwanda’s consistent GDP growth, averaging 7% since 2014. Key agricultural exports include tea and coffee, while highly productive crops encompass plantains, cassava, potatoes, sweet potatoes, maize, and beans.
Agriculture is a priority sector in Rwanda’s Vision 2050 national development strategy. The government aims to replace subsistence farming with fully monetized and technology-intensive commercial agriculture and agro-processing by 2050.
The government, aligning with the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS II), designates agriculture as a catalyst sector. The emphasis is on developing value chains with robust connections to the private sector.
Rwanda Agrofood 2024, the International Trade Exhibition for Agriculture and Food for Rwanda and its Neighboring Countries, under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources will serve as a pivotal platform, uniting influential government decision-makers, international stakeholders, and a diverse array of participants, including Rwandan and regional buyers, traders, and cutting-edge technology providers. The collaborative efforts at this gathering aim to catalyze transformative changes in the agricultural sector, aligning with Rwanda’s ambitious vision for progress and development.
